It is with heavy hearts that we announce that McClure United Church will be suspending gathering for worship in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hiatus will last until at least the end of March and we intend to resume congregational gatherings, if and when it becomes safe for all concerned.

We come to this decision in order to safeguard the health and well-being of the vulnerable residents of McClure Place and Amy McClure House, members of our congregation and our wider community. While our congregational gatherings may be suspended, the love and care provided by our ministers and staff will remain ongoing. If you are concerned and are in need of any pastoral support, please do not hesitate to contact the church office (306-373-1753 or

While in-person worship services are temporarily suspended, and for people who need to remain in their homes, worship can continue through technology. Numerous United Church communities of faith will be providing live-streaming worship services. You can find the links on the United Church of Canada website:

As we physically distance ourselves from each other it is important to keep our social links strong. If you find it necessary to self-quarantine and require supplies or attention, please let us know. We can help by having healthy community members drop off groceries and medications directly to your doorstep. You are not alone.

We promise to keep everyone informed and connected via our Facebook page (, website ( and email.

With current news of event cancellations and school closures it may be easy to fear that our society is in retreat. Just remember that these cancellations belie a society taking control of the situation—a community working together in a collective effort to fend off a threat and protect those of us who are most vulnerable.

This remains a complicated and rapidly evolving situation that reminds us that we all share a responsibility to a broader society. May God bless us all and give us the strength to care for one another through these challenging times.
